Sock Monkey Coffee Cozies

Welcome back!

Finally another new post. I've been so busy trying to get things made to sell at our local farmer's market that I haven't had much time for anything else lately. Today I am sharing what I've been working on for the farmer's market lately. These sock monkey coffee cozies are always a big hit. People love them and I really enjoy making them.

Here's the pattern that I use.

Check them out! Aren't they just adorable?

Well, I got to get back to making more of these little guys. Hoping they go like hotcakes again this year. Thanks for stopping by and stop back again soon!

Crochet Gift Set

Hello everyone!

I'm changing my blog up a little bit. I'm expanding my blog from just posting about cards and scrapbooking to all things crafty. I will also be including my husband's projects as well. Lately, I've been doing a lot of crocheting so I'm going to start off by showing a crochet baby gift set that I made for a new arrival who is set to arrive today.

I made a crochet owl lovey, crochet baby booties and a crochet newborn hat. Patterns used were from Repeat Crafter Me's blog. Links to the patterns are below:

Here are my versions:

Not sure if you guessed it, but it's a girl! So, there you have it. I hope you like what I've shared with you today. I need to get this packaged up and sent off to them. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you stop back again soon!

Dishwasher Sign Project

Welcome to my blog. For my first project since starting over (and going to try to post more regularly), I will show you the dishwasher clean/dirty sign I decided to make. I've seen all over the internet how people make different kinds of signs to put on their dishwasher so their families know if the dishes are clean or dirty. I decided I needed one because my kids are constantly asking me if the dishes are clean or dirty.

I'm a Graphic Designer by trade, so I decided to make my own. In a design program I imported a pretty background, picked a shape template and using a font I liked, typed out the words clean and dirty, flipping the one word upside down and butting them up against each other. That way, if you can read the word clean, the dishes are clean. If you can read the word, dirty, the dishes are dirty.

I then printed it out on a color printer and I don't have a laminator yet so I took packing tape and covered both sides multiple times in packing tape. I then cut out around the shape of the sign. Tonight I finished the project by adding a sheet of magnet paper to the back and then cutting out around the shape again. Unfortunately, the front of my dishwasher must not be metal (because it didn't stick to it) so I put the sign on my fridge. Here it is....

So, what do you think? It's not too fancy, but it will serve it's purpose. Thanks for stopping by. Leave a comment if you like and stop again real soon.

Starting Over

I can't believe it's been almost a year since I last posted. I really need to get back to this. I've been doing so much and I need to start sharing it all with everyone. I've just been so busy with work and my kids. It's just amazing how fast time flies! Anyway, this is just a test post to see if I can get this pin it widget for Pinterest to work and then I will be back soon with some actual posts. So, stop back soon. Thanks!

Back To School Blog Hop

Hello! I'm glad you could join us today. Hopefully you just hopped over from Amber.  If not, please head on over to see our hop hostess Jenny so you can start from the beginning. We don't want you to miss out on any super cool projects. :)

Here's the hop line-up for today. Make sure you didn't miss anyone.

So, as I've shared in past posts lately, I've been selling some of my crafts at my local farmer's market. Among other crafts, I do quite a bit of crocheting and knitting. I generally do most of my crocheting and knitting during the long winter months here in Minnesota.

My project that I am sharing with you today is the Sock Monkey Cozies that I have been crocheting lately. I think they have been turning out so cute and I get lots of great comments about them. What does this have to do with Back To School?

Well, my husband convinced me that I should give some of my Sock Monkey Cozies along with some tea or cocoa packets to my sons teachers when he starts back to school. We have to get him on his teachers good side right off the bat. :)  We don't start here in Minnesota until the day after Labor Day, but I have plenty of these cozies already made and ready to go.

Let me know what you think and thanks for joining us today and we hope you enjoyed our projects.

Whatcha Been Doin' This Summer

The Thankful Thursday Design Team presents:

Whatcha Been Doing This Summer Blog Hop

Welcome back everyone. Our design team had a short break, but we are back. We are featuring what we have been doing this summer so far. Hopefully you just came from the super talented Amber. If not, please head on over to see our hop hostess Jenny so you can start from the beginning. We don't want you to miss out on any super cool projects. :)

Here's the hop line-up from today. Double check and make sure you didn't miss anyone.

Here's what I've been up to so far this summer. I've been crafting quite a bit and selling my crafts at my local farmer's market on Saturdays. My family and I took a trip and spent a week at a beautiful cabin on a lake. It was wonderful. My youngest son has been staying busy with Summer Junior Golf Lessons, hanging out with friends and going to the library.

I decided to make him a messenger style bag out of duct tape to carry his books in to and from the library. He loves anything in camouflage so I found some camo duct tape and some black duct tape and made him a bag.

Thanks for joining us today and we hope you enjoyed our projects.

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!

Happy Birthday to me! :D

So, instead of posting a project today, I'm going to take my birthday off and just post some artwork my kids have drawn.

My second oldest son, Corey, who just graduated drew this picture of Synyster Gates from the band Avenged Sevenfold:

And he drew this picture of his girlfriend. The picture is kind of blurry because we used a cell phone camera to take the picture:

My third oldest son, Tyler, drew this picture although he was just messing around. He's a pretty good artist also:

So, anyway, I'm getting older and I think somewhat wiser. LOL! Thanks for stopping by again. Hope you stop back soon.

Star Trek Birthday Card

Hello! Check me out, posting again so soon! :)

I was going through some cards/projects I made recently trying to decide what I should post about and decided I had to share this card. It's one of my favorites of all the cards that I have made. I try to make birthday cards every year for my co-workers. They seem to really appreciate the creativity and time I put into the cards even though they are all designers like me. :)

One of these co-workers/friends is really into Star Trek among other things and out of the blue, I thought up this Star Trek card. I asked one of my sons (I have very artistic kids) to draw a hand (I'm not so good at drawing) giving the Vulcan Salute (I looked that up). I also had him draw the Starfleet Communicator Badge (looked that up too). I cut out both the hand and the badge and colored them with my colored pencils.

I then put together a center step card and added the hand on an Action Wobble and the badge in the upper corner. I didn't have a stamp that went with the card, so I had my husband write a saying in his best block handwriting. There were many of us involved in the making of this card.  :)

I think it turned out pretty cool and I was very proud of my creation. Here is a picture.

Thanks for stopping by and leave me a comment if you wish. I'd love to hear from you. Stop back tomorrow if you can. Tomorrow is a special day for me. :)

My Busy Life

Hey Everyone!

Thanks for stopping by today. I'm trying to get back to blogging more than once a month, so we'll see how I do. I've been making lots of projects lately, but finding time to upload them to my blog has been difficult.

A little bit of what I've been up to.... I've been going to my local Farmer's Market every Saturday from 7 am as soon as I get there until about noon unless it rains. I've been selling my cards, some hair bows and some microwavable heat packs made out of socks and some made out of flannel. It's been fun hanging out with my work friends who also have been selling different items at the Farmer's Market. I'll try to upload some pictures of what I've been selling at a later date.

My granddaughter turned 1 on April 13th and on May 11th, we threw her a birthday party. I think she had fun. Here is her birthday card I made. Her parents call her "monkey" and I was going with an animal print theme for her party. The monkey is actually on an Action Wobble so it looks like he's swinging.

Her cake was special ordered from Wal-Mart.

And here is the birthday girl. Just click on the picture to enlarge it to see the detail better.

I took a onesie and cut some purple material (with iron on adhesive on the back) out on my cricut in the shape of a one. I ironed it on, did some zig zag stitching around the edges and added some buttons in one corner. I also made ruffles and sewed them onto the back of the shorts and sewed on the ribbon that I had tied into a bow. I forgot to bring a bow for her hair. :(

Here is her birthday banner that I cut using my cricut.

And here is one of her gifts that she got from us. We love horses in our family. My youngest son and my mom both have horses, so we thought it would be fun to get her a rocking/bouncy horse and it makes noises too.

And then last but not least, I've been helping my kids finish up their last days of school before summer break. I still have three sons at home and they go to three different schools. My second oldest just graduated. Yay! Two down, two to go and one of those will be next year already.  :)

Here is my graduate:

Well, that is all I am going to share for today, but I will be starting to post my projects so check back often. Thanks for checking in with me today and I'd love for you to leave me a comment.  :)
