Thankful Thursday Design Team Day

Hey Everyone! Welome back for another Thankful Thursday Design Team Project. Today our theme was to do a Back To School Note. Well, my oldest is graduated, my middle two are in high school, so that leaves my 11 year old. I didn't think he'd want a note from his mom so instead I decided to personalize one of his notebooks. My kids always have to have a composition notebook for school, so I took some of my scrapbooking paper and covered the notebook and then added some personalization to it.

My son loves horses and he even owns a horse so of course I had to use scrapbooking paper with a western theme and I put a horse from the Create-A-Critter cartridge on the notebook. I popped the horse up with pop dots.

I also added my sons name with scrapbooking stickers and popped them up with pop dots also.

Hey Everyone!

I love joining in on blog hops whenever I have a chance and My Pink Stamper has a great blog hop once a month. It's always the third Friday of the month. This month, I didn't get a chance to join in on the blog hop until Saturday and I just got a chance to upload the pictures of my card I came up with for the challenge. This month the challenge was to show your style whatever that may be.

Well, my favorite color is purple and I also really like hot pink and neon green too. I think my style is bright, cheery, fun and sparkly. I like adding Stickles, Glossy Accents, ribbon, buttons, and diamond bling whenever I can. Here is what I came up with.

I recently got a couple of Simply Betty Stamps so I thought I would try one out and I colored it with my watercolor pencils.

I added Glossy Accents to her glasses to look like lenses and I added Stickles to her bows and outfit. I added some ribbon and purple buttons. I also added the "Rock On" stamp from My Pink Stampers Everyday Life stamp set.

Duct Tape Flower

So, I happened upon a tutorial at Roberts Arts & Crafts blog on how to make Duct Tape Flowers and I just had to try it. My youngest and I ran out and picked up three rolls of duct tape (Green for the stems, black w/flames which he chose, and pink and black zebra stripes which I chose) and straws. I showed him (he's 11) how to make the petals and he ended up making 3 flowers! He wants to make more. I made 2, one for my mom and one for my grandma.They are fairly easy to make and they are really neat to have as a decoration.

Here is my first attempt at a duct tape flower. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. This one I gave to my grandma. She seemed to like it.

Here is Grandma with her flower. I think her flower makes her just glow. She looks great for 85, huh?!

And here is Ben with the three flowers he made in the amount of time that I made one. :)

Thankful Thursday Challenge

Hey everyone!

Thanks for stopping back. Today is another Thankful Thursday Challenge. This week the challenge is summer reading. Make a bookmark to show how you save your place in your favorite family book! I really enjoyed this challenge. I had so many ideas that I wanted to try, but I've just been too busy. I chose one idea and ran with it.

A while ago, I saw something about making a bookmark out of a jumbo paper clip. I decided I wanted to give that a try. There really are so many things you could do to decorate a paperclip, but I didn't have enough time to do more than one. Here are the pictures.

I added three different kinds of ribbon. I actually wrapped the ribbon through the paper clip and sewed the two sides of ribbon together with just a needle and some thread. Originally, I tied the ribbon around in knots, but they flared out way more than I wanted it to. After sewing the ribbon on, I used a glue dot to stick the button to the flower.

I will tell you that it was a bad idea to do it that way and this is why..... I then sewed the button and flower to the ribbon and my needle got sticky from the glue dot. Oh well, lesson learned and it was easy enough to clean off. Anyway, that's my finished project. I hope you like it. Now it's your turn. Customized 6x6 Album

Hey everyone! I finally got a chance to get some pictures of a project I finished a while ago uploaded to my computer. One of my niece's who is also my Goddaughter was confirmed recently and I didn't want to just make a card for her. I had a couple of these cheap 6x6 scrapbook albums that I had bought a while ago that had kind of a fall design on the cover. I got this wonderful idea to take some of my Recollections Animal Printed Cardstock and cover the album with it. My niece's favorite color is bright/neon green so that is the main color I went with.

I decided to add some pink ribbon, a pink flower and a pink "S" which is the first letter of my niece's name to personalize it a little bit for her. I also added a handwritten note on the inside.

I added some faux stitching to the "S" with my white jelly roll pen to match the white stitching on the pink ribbon.

I added some stickles to the center of the flower and some diamond bling to the corners of the front cover.

I cut down and inserted scrapbook papers to the inside of the album so she can just stick her favorite pictures on the pages.

I really like how it turned out. I will be making a matching card to go with it and I'll take a picture of that too and post it later. I need to get this sent off to her soon! Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by.

Thankful Thursday Design Team ~ Summer Movie

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been MIA since our last Thankful Thursday challenge, but I've been dealing with a lot at home. Anyway, it's that time again. Todays challenge is to make a project about your favorite family movie. This challenge was extremely difficult for me. Everytime I thought of a movie, I couldn't think of a project to make to go with it. I thought of lots of projects to make, but couldn't figure out how to incorporate a movie theme into it. Well, I called on some friends for help and finally came up with something. Thanks guys!

I went with the movie Cars and since my boys are all older and not really into Cars (the movies) anymore, I decided to make this project for a friends son. Surprise Gunnar! This is a decoration for him to hang on his bedroom door or wall. He loves Cars so I knew I had to make it for him. I made the sign in the shape of a highway sign and cut it out of foam board which is really hard to cut with scissors so I had to carefully use my X-acto knife. I used my Cricut to cut out his name and the word "room" and my eleven year old colored the words, McQueen, and Mater.

I used Mod Podge over the sign and words and used pop dots to pop up the Mater and McQueen. I also used ribbon to be able to hang it up. I hope he likes it. Ben and I put our hearts and souls into it. :)

Thankful Thursday Design Team ~ Red/White/Blue

Hey everyone! Welcome back! It's that time again. Thankful Thursday Design Team Day. Today we were suppose to do a project with red, white and blue and since my original planned project failed miserably, I decided to throw together a quick card using a size I've never made before. This card fits in a business size envelope. I think it turned out pretty good. I still plan to finish up the failed project (I'm determined) and get it posted on here eventually so keep checking back. I made a mini Fourth of July windsock. I used two different kinds of patterned paper from The Paper Studio All Seasons Paper Pack, red streamers, white streamers, blue streamers, yarn and some Stickles. I used the Stickles on the white fireworks on the blue paper, but it's kind of hard to tell in the picture. I used the yarn to hang it up with. My son has decided he wants it in his room. I guess he likes it. :)

A New Birthday Card

Happy Thursday everyone! Tomorrow is Friday, Yay! I am so behind on making cards for people I know that have graduated or have had birthdays.... It's crazy. I feel like I have to make my friends and family one of a kind cards so they feel special. This card is for a friend who already had their birthday this year. I think she knows who she is. Surprise! Your card is on it's way, BFF! :)

I love this paper I've been using from The Paper Studio called Safari Untamed. It's so cute. You can't tell very well in the picture, but I added Sparkly Fluff to the black parts (except the eyes) of the zebra so it would look and feel more like a real zebra. I don't like using the Sparkly Fluff because it's really messy, but I love the look and feel it gives to your image.

I also added Glam Pink Stickles to the flower and Crystal Stickles to the center of the flower. The Happy Birthday stamp is from Stampendous.

I like how it turned out. What do you think?

Thankful Thursday Design Team ~ Father's Day

Hello everyone! It's that time again. Thankful Thursday Design Team day. Today's theme is to make a project for Father's Day. Any project for/by/about a Father. Well, I had found a tutorial on how to do this freezer paper stenciling and really wanted to give it a try. First, I gathered all the items I would need. Bought a t-shirt at Michael's for about $4, fabric paint, freezer paper (not wax paper), and an image.

I found the tutorial here: sirbubbadoo. Instead of tracing an image and using a x-acto knife to cut it out, I used my cricut. I placed the freezer paper on my sticky mat so the shiny side was up and then I had my son type in #1 Dad, we made sure we flipped it so it was backwards because the shiny side of the freezer paper has to go down onto the material.

Here is my son using my cricut to cut the image. He's a pro now.

After cutting out the image, peel it off the mat and place it shiny side down on your shirt or whatever you will be stenciling on. Place a towel on top of the freezer paper and iron over the image.

Remove the towel to check if the freezer paper is ironed on good. Once the freezer paper is stuck on the material, put some paint on the material, where the cuts are and paint a nice layer over all the cut out areas. We used a foam paint brush.

If you are stenciling letters or anything else that has a "center" to it such as the letter "D" or "A", you need to peel that little piece off your mat and iron it down also before you start painting.

Let dry. Once dry, carefully peel off freezer paper pieces.

Place a thin towel or some other sort of thin material over the painted areas and iron again to set the paint.

Voila! Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband who has helped me raise 4 wonderful sons. Thanks Ben for your help with this project.

Shilo Letters, Father's Day and My Pink Stamper Blog Hop Challenge

A while ago, I started working on this project for my granddaughters room. They are wood letters that I picked up at Wal-Mart that spell out her name. I sanded them down, Mod Podged patterned paper onto the letters, and then added butterfly crystals, flower crystals and ribbon to the letters. They are now finished. I think they turned out pretty cute.

I made some Father's Day cads to sell. I used Kraft cardstock, patterned paper on the background to look like a dress shirt, and patterned paper in the shape of a tie. I think they turned out nice without being feminine looking.

Happy Father's Day stamp is by My Favorite Things.

On Friday, My Pink Stamper had her monthly blog hop and the challenge was to make something with a summer theme. Well, summer means a lot of different things to me, but there are always a ton of graduation parties at the beginning of summer and I had to make a couple of graduation cards for my mom to take to a graduaiton she was invited to so that's what I did. She wanted me to make a spinner card with the mortar board being the part that spins back and forth. So, the idea for the card came from my mom and I made her vision come to life. I used My Pink Stampers Everyday Life stamp in the spinner window and I cut the graduaiton cap from the Wild Card cartridge and outlined the "shadow" area with a white colored pencil and added gold stickles for the tassle. I also added frosted lace stickles dotted in the corners. I think they turned out pretty good.
